Astragals (mouldings)

For single glazed windows the astragals are solid with individual panes of glass to suit you requirements.

For double glazed windows the astragals are generally “plant-on” (one large pane of glass with astragals fixed in place on either side of the glass using glazing tape) To give the effect of smaller panes.

Solid astragals on double glazed windows are significantly larger than that of standard single glazed windows. However “plant-on” astragals are the same thickness as the single glazed astragals to provide you with the traditional look of single glazing but with the benefits of double glazing.

In certain configurations of panes, solid astragals for a double glazed window can result in a cost increase.

Common Configuration of Astragals

This is based on how many panes of glass are on the top sash and how many on the bottom sash. eg 2 over 2
